Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

I wanted to give this foundation a try after hearing great reviews, and when I saw that it was on sale in Debenhams at 10% off, I had to get it! I ordered it next day delivery and it arrived this morning, great delivery and I was impressed that Debenhams used minimal packaging with it just being in a padded envelope. I've ordered beauty products from other shops to have them delivered in huge boxes with loads of bubblewrap and so on. Anyway, back to the item.
The Too Faced packaging itself is lovely, but the frosted bottle is gorgeous! And under the lid is a pump so it's easier to apply.

This is now my new favourite foundation. It's so easy and quick to apply and it really does give a second skin appearance rather than a thick cakey look. It minimised my pores and covered my facial scars without me having to put too many layers on. And that's the great thing about this foundation, it's buildable but doesn't look too thick and still looks natural and smooth. I'm in love with this!

Jem and the Holograms halloween makeup

When I was a kid I loved Jem and the Holograms. I used to go round to my friends house and we'd watch it on VHS. I loved the singing, the outfits, but above all the hair and makeup! I'm pretty sure that it was watching Jem & co that made me want bright hair from an early age. So as it's nearly Halloween, this morning I decided to try doing Jem makeup!
For the eyes I used the Poptastic Palette from Makeup Academy, using shocking pink for the main eye makeup, and Cherry Sour for the line detail I did going down from the start of my brows. I also used Shocking Pink along my cheekbones. I lightly brushed on some loose white glitter over the eyeshadow to get a nice sparkle. And of course to finish off the look I opted for bright pink lips. I used Makeup Academy's Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer in Criminal

Coping with chronic pain

Due to my joint hypermobility syndrome I deal with a lot of pain, but unfortunately pain relief doesn't seem to work for me without bad side effects, so I'm not actually prescribed any pain relief medication at the moment. So I've found little ways of trying to cope with my chronic pain. Obviously if the pain is very extreme or different to what I usually get, I go to A&E or my GP!

A warm bath - I love a warm bath with a Lush bath bomb to relax and take my mind off of things, and ease aches and pains a bit

Hot water bottle/hot wheat bag - I use my hot water bottle daily for pains in my back, I also have a lavender scented wheat bag thingy shaped like a cuddly cat that is ideal for placing around my neck and shoulders

Ice - Ice packs can be good for pains too. I prefer heat, but I use ice for swelling if I've recently had a subluxation or dislocation

Deep breathing exercises - always great for staying calm

Netflix - great for distraction, I like to watch comedy shows like The Office or Community when I'm feeling poorly. Or a Christmas film!

Playlist - I have a playlist made up of songs that remind me of happy times that I'll listen, and although it can't make me feel better, it can cheer me up a bit

Audiobooks - another distraction technique, if I'm having to get bed rest because of pain/sickness/injury I'll lay there and listen to audiobooks. Currently replaying Coraline

Books - I love a good book, if I'm well enough to be able to fully concentrate then I'll read. Sometimes I find it difficult to concentrate on reading if I also have pain going on, so then it's back to using audiobooks

Rest - I try to listen to my body and rest it when I need to, although sometimes it can be hard to get time to rest as I have two children

None of these things will take away my pain fully, but they do help me to cope with the chronic pain I suffer with. What sort of things do you do to deal with chronic pain? Feel free to leave a comment with any chronic pain advice!

Pretty in neon pink

I love pink but always struggle to find a pink lipstick that suits me. And then I found this bright matte lip colour from Makeup Academy! This is the shade 'Criminal' from their luxe velvet lip lacquer range. The colour is so vibrant and the lip colour is so easy to apply with the applicator wand. It stay put well but I did find after about an hours wear (and after eating/drinking) that it started to crumble off my lips. However gently blotting with a damp tissue to remove the crumbly parts and reapplying a little solved that problem.
To complete this look I went with light smokey grey eyeshadows for my eyes, as I wanted my lips to be the main focus.

Foundation - Estee Lauder Double Wear, 1w2 Sand
Bronzer - E.L.F Cosmetics, Studio Baked Bronzer, St Lucia
Eyeshadow -MUA, I used Carpo & Cassini from the Dusk Till Dawn palette
Eyeliner - Barry M, black liquid eyeliner
Mascara - Benefit, They're Real

Lips - MUA, Luxe velvet lip lacquer, Criminal
Headband - Lightning bolt headband from Janine Basil
Piercings Jewellery - Wildcat

Pretty new jewellery

Decided to treat myself to some new jewellery as a bit of a pick me up after having a few stressful and upsetting weeks. I've been following Jewellerybox.co.uk on twitter for some time now and admiring lots of designs, and decided to check out their website and make a purchase. I opted for a stunning Garnet ring, as Garnet is my birthstone and I do love the colour red. I also bought a beautiful sterling silver snowflake pendant, for me to wear on Christmas day. I figured if I didn't buy it now, I'd forget until it was too late! My order was dispatched the same day and arrived 2 days later, very speedy! Really happy with my jewellery and I completely recommend visiting Jewellerybox.co.uk.

Yankee Candle Autumn buys

As I've mentioned in posts before, I love a good candle. Especially as the cold nights approach! I had a browse on the Yankee Candle website over the weekend and was happy to see the Halloween range out and also some Christmas bits too! I bought some Wax melts, I prefer them as they are stronger scented than the candles in my opinion, and really make the house smell gorgeous. This was the first time I've ordered from Yankee Candle online and I'm glad to say it was easy and there are a lot of choice of items, plus a sale section. My order was dispatched the same day I paid, and arrived around 3 working days later, all packaged very carefully.
When I saw this Halloween pumpkin melt warmer I HAD to get it, so cute and perfect for Halloween!
I got Witches Brew and Candy Corn melts, I've never tried these before. I also wanted to get something Christmassy, so chose Candy Cane Lane melt.

A few of my favourite relaxing things

These are a few of my favourite things for relaxing recently. They're great for a cosy day, or for when I am experiencing anxiety (I am diagnosed with severe anxiety) and need something to try and calm myself, or for distracting from the pain I experience from my joint hypermobility syndrome.

My favourite perfume, Amor Amor by Cacharel. Sometimes just wearing it makes me feel a little bit happier
Pretty candle holders I got from Hobbycraft. When they have a lit candle inside they're so pretty
Yankee candles and Yankee Candle wax melts are amazing for scenting my house and for relaxing
A good book is always perfect for a cosy day. I have just started reading Terry Pratchett's 'The Shepherd's Crown'

My Halloween film playlist

* This post includes Amazon affiliate links

As soon as we get in to September, I start looking forward to Halloween (and quickly followed by Christmas!). As children my sisters and I would dress up at home or at our Gran Pam's house, I remember one year Gran let us hang fake spider webs everywhere and we basically just ate sweets and played, all dressed up pretending to be witches or vampires. We didn't do trick or treating, but we had a great time!
I love Autumn and the Halloween spirit, but I've never full on celebrated Halloween really. I don't go out to parties or take my kids trick or treating, but we do decorate the house, dress the kids up in outfits they've chosen, have a nice evening meal followed by sweeties, and answer the door to trick or treaters. I love to watch movies that set the Halloween tone. Only, I really don't like horror movies! I'm just too squeamish and scare easily, they're not for me. So, I thought I'd share my list of films that I do love to watch around Halloween without scaring myself silly!

MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer - Reckless

Really impressed with this matte lip colour. At only £3 it's an incredible bargain! Application is easy as it goes on with a lip gloss wand, though it does take a little while to dry so I found I couldn't press my lips together until it fully dried or else my lips would kind of get stuck to each other and pull the colour off. This velvet lacquer really does feel velvety once dried and I totally forgot I was wearing lipstick which is great, as I hate sticky or wet feeling glosses or lipsticks. I'm completely in love with the colour, it's a wonderful deep dark red that makes me feel all Disney Villain haha! It lasts well and didn't leave stains on my tea mugs, but after a few hours I found it would get a little crumbly, needing me to re apply, but at only £3 and that being the only fault I could find, I don't mind at all!

Eye makeup is Gold Mine and Cherry Sour from MUA's Poptastic eyeshadow palette, Barry M eyeliner and mascara.
