Christmas on a budget

It's getting closer to that time of year again. OK, I know a lot of you will be thinking "What? It's only September..." but I like to plan ahead to make Christmas a bit more financially easier for myself. Here are some of my tips for having a great Christmas day with less stress on the wallet!

  • Start early. I get things like wrap, tags, cards & decorations in the summer months when they're all reduced to clear
  • Handmade. Last year we made gifts and tree decorations with our kids. There are lots of fun and easy tutorials on the internet!
  • Second hand. Ebay and charity shops often have some great finds
  • Pound shops. I get a lot of the smaller presents and stocking filler gifts from pound shops. Also great for Christmas mugs, and Christmas cards
  • Sales. Check out online sales throughout the year. I managed to get a new 6ft tree that was marked down to half price, bargain!
  • Price check. Decide what you want to buy and check in a few shops, sometimes you can get it for cheaper when you look around
  • Stick to a budget and shopping list. Don't stray from the list and end up spending way more than you intended (I am guilty of this!)
  • Spread the cost. Buy gifts here and there over the months, rather than try to get everything in one months pay
  • Don't worry. Remember that it's not all about presents, or how much you can or can't spend. Spending time with loved ones is the best present

Thanks for reading, and I hope this little guide helps someone as much as it helps me every year!

A post about my hair

Got my hair cut a few weeks ago, didn't I. Decided to make my hair a bit shorter, keeping the front pieces slightly longer around my face, and I trimmed my fringe again. I also dyed over my blue ends with some black semi permanent dye, but it's faded out already and now my ends have a few navy blue bits! No complaints here though. I'm considering popping in some flashes of lime green but we'll see...

Adam & Eco wax melts review

*I was sent these items, and my review is my own honest opinion

I'm a big fan of wax melts and so I was very happy to review these ones from Adam & Eco's website
The wax melts are handmade, there are many yummy scents to choose from, and they are vegan. I love how strongly scented these are, as they will last longer. Also means I don't have to sit right next to my burner to enjoy the smell! I was really happy to see that they were also delivered in minimal packaging, so there wasn't lots to throw out. I selected 3 different scented waxes.

Autumn Gold
Of course I had to get this one! I'm in love with anything to do with autumn (didn't my blog name give that away?!) and I was so glad I chose it. This has a deep, strong scent, that really does make me feel like it's autumn time. It filled my entire house and really made me feel cosy. Great when you're snuggled up with a book and a cuppa.

Sugar Plum Fairy
Such a magical pretty smelling wax melt, it reminded me of Christmas parties. This was my favourite, really uplifted my mood when I popped this on.

Spicy Orange
This one lives up to its name. It has a very fresh but spicy smell, this would be especially lovely on a cold winters day. I found this wax melt to have a softer, lighter smell than the other melts I tried.

So there you go! If you love scented wax melts, and want something affordable, with lots of different choices, give Adam & Eco's wax melts a try. You won't be disappointed!
